Cobblestone is one of the most common blocks, dropped after Stone is mined with any pickaxe. Cobblestone can be smelted back into Stone in a Furnace with a 1:1 ratio. Common uses for Cobblestone include producing scrap in a Recycler or using the EMC value of 1 to make less expensive items in the Energy Condenser. Note that when using the cobblestone in the energy condenser, it is more EMC efficient to turn the cobblestone into slabs before placing it into the condenser. This is because 1 cobblestone costs 1 EMC. It takes 3 cobblestone, or 3 EMC, to make 6 cobblestone slabs. Since each cobblestone slab has an EMC value of 1, then you are effectively doubling the emc of each cobblestone block.
Cobblestone can also be used in conjuncture with Automatic Crafting Table to create 6 stone slabs with three cobblestone. Once this has been done, you may condense the slabs for 1 EMC each. To continue this further just repeat the steps. This method can also be used for a higher production of scrap.
Cobblestone can be used to make cobblestone transport pipes, which can transport items from chests and other storage items when connected to a wooden transport pipe. These pipes do not connect to stone pipes, making them very handy in complex layouts. They can also be waterproofed, which uses the same principle, but with tanks and pumps etc.
Note: if you are going to use a cobblestone generator to provide material for a recycler, you can use an automatic crafting table to turn the cobblestone into cobblestone slabs, effectively doubling the generator's output.
